One of the most difficult aspects of parenting is when a child is an infant and communication is difficult. As a result, sign language has gained popularity as a replacement among families.
Whether your goal is to improve communication or to enrich your child’s life, sign language seems like a potential choice.
Numerous studies have shown that children are able to use and understand sign language long before they are able to talk.
Courtney and Zach Lotane, Madison’s parents, started teaching daughter American Sign Language for a different reason.
Since Zach could read lips despite being deaf, ASL gave him and his daughter an another means of communication.
Zach broke down in tears when asked what learning sign language has done for him and his kid. Zach remarked,
‘I like talking to her and watching her facial expressions and her sign. There seems to be a link.
Madison’s relationships with her husband were something Courtney adored seeing. The moment she was outside with
Zach and Madison under a tree and Zach lifted her up while signing the word ‘tree’ was one of her fondest memories.
Madison’s ability in sign language shocked Zach and Courtney, as it does many parents who teach their children
the language. Zach believes that even if she can’t speak yet, she can still communicate. It’s amazing.
Zach and Courtney are most concerned with laying the foundation for Madison’s future through her exposure to American Sign Language.
In addition to being able to embrace herself, Zach continued, ‘I want her to be able to communicate with other types of people.
